Meanwhile, the seconds got off the mark with a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Stafford.

Goalkeeper Cameron Grant earned the man-of-the-match honours with a string of great saves.

Spa had the better of the opening exchanges and took an early lead from a clever deflection into the far corner from winger Luke Wicks.

As the game wore on, Stafford’s youthful side created a number of chances and won a high number of short corners but were stopped every time by the impressive Grant.

But Stafford piled on the pressure and levelled the scores.

The thirds beat Bloxwich 2-0 thanks to goals from Joseph Neal and Pepe Eaglesfield.

Meanwhile, the fourths held Stafford fifths to a 0-0 draw thanks to keeper George Robertshaw.
