JULIA Liddington won Ombersley’s Lewis Trophy in a hard fought battle.

She emerged triumphant despite having the same score as Sue Hele, in second, and third-placed Helen Lane because of count-back.

Nadine Anderson won the September weekday Medal with a score of 72, beating Althea Rannie into second and Lane into third.

The weekend monthly medal was won by Melanie Leroy on count-back, followed by Margaret Leatherby and Jenny Taylor.

Meanwhile, a group of Ombersley lady golfers travelled to The Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake recently to support the Women’s British Open.

They chose the driest day of the tournament which was won by South Korea’s Jiyai Shin with a score of 279 over four rounds.

Ladies captain Dr Sue Jenkins took her rightful place on the sponsors throne at the tournament. It was particularly apt as Dr Jenkins had earlier that week scored an eagle on the ninth hole at Ombersley while playing in the captain’s pairs.
