DELIGHTED manager Keith Draper believes Bromsgrove Sporting must build on their excellent win over in-form Walsall Wood.

The Rouslers stunned previously unbeaten Walsall thanks to goals for Mike Thurbon and Danny Deehan to bag their first Midland Combination Premier Division away win of the season. Draper felt a change of system from 3-5-2 to 4-5-1 had made a big impact.

He said: “When we lost to Nuneaton Griff a few weeks ago we thought it was time for a change.

“We were keeping the ball but were a little open to be honest, but the new formation worked really well.

“This was a great win, we were really pleased with all the players but the midfield of Luke Dugmore, Jack Lodge and James Blake was really good.

“A win like this generate lot of good feeling around the club and hopefully we can build on this result.”

Draper confirmed Sporting are looking at bringing in several new players after swooping for Dugmore from Alvechurch last week.

“Luke was excellent for us, he’s a quality player and we’re delighted to get him,” added the manager.

Sporting are set to have a near full-strength squad for Saturday’s home clash with second from bottom Castle Vale JKS, (3pm ko) with Joe Brookes, Jon Rogers and Chris Bright all available again after overcoming injuries.

James Turk is set to be out for six weeks after injuring his groin.

Draper also praised the impact of joint manager Graham Scott, who joined from Alvechurch in the summer.

He said: “I’ve learned so much from him in the short space of time we’ve been working together.

“We’ve got Castle Vale on Saturday who are struggling and I want us to start putting a good run together.

“Our priority is a top half of the table finish which will ensure a place in the FA Cup and FA Vase next season.”
