BROMSGROVE driver Julian Barnett heads to the Lovell Rally of the Midlands this weekend looking to consolidate his class in the REIS Get Connected Asphalt Rally Championship.

Barnett and co-driver Andrew Smith take their Subaru Impreza, which was built by LH Drive Prodrive, to the fourth round of the championship at Mallory Park lying second in group N following successful trips to the Isle of Man and Scotland.

Saturday’s action includes visits to the Motor Industry Research Association test track with spectators able to see the cars at Merevale Hall near Atherstone.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend as it’s my local rally,” said Barnett. “We had a great run on the Jim Clark up in Scotland three weeks ago and I’m gaining confidence in the car.

“We need to be careful over the hump back bridges as we broke a gearbox mounting last year on the second pass through carrying a bit more speed.”

The team continue their championship campaign with backing from Central Maintenance Solutions, Polesworth Garage and North Birmingham Fleet Services.
