THREE junior sides from Droitwich did the town proud as they savoured double success over the course of the football season.

Droitwich Spa Girls under-14s had the perfect season in the Stourbridge and District Youth League.

They had already won the league by winning all 12 of their matches and then saw off Hasbury Rangers 4-1 at the Dell Stadium in Brierley Hill to clinch the league cup.

The team are now looking to recruit several new players for next season and anyone interested should contact manager Duncan Howells on 07889 255546.

Droitwich Spa Lions Girls under-16s also completed the double in the Stourbridge and District Youth League.

They topped their division before seeing off Withymoor Colts 3-2 to secure the league cup.

Meanwhile, Droitwich Hornets under-9s topped their table in the Mercian League Division Two before clinching the George Goode Memorial Shield.

In a fine campaign, Morgan Wood was top-scorer with 30 goals and Jack Viccars was named player-of-the-season.

n Catshill Junior’s Saturday side finished runners up at the annual Stourport League five-a-side tournament, going down 2-0 to Worcester Colts in the final.

It meant Catshill came fifth in the league and made the final of the knock-out cup in their first venture into playing on a Saturday.

The club are players to join them next season.
