YOUNG athletes from Bromsgrove and Redditch AC got their team to second behind Hereford and Worcester at the opening round of the UK Young Athletes League Midlands Division One (Central).

Top performances included wins for Jack Turner (U13 boys) in the 100 metres B race with 13.8, as well as another first place in the 200m with 28.3.

Josh Pearson (U13 boys) won the 100m A in 14.1 and the 200m in 28.9 Olivia Worth won the U13 girls 800m in 2.50.8, Amy Mijovic-Couldwell won the U13 girls 1,200m followed by Amy Tongue, who took 18 seconds off her personal best.

Jordan Prust won the U15 1,500m in 6.05, Andrew Pearson won the U15 boys 300m in 43.2 seconds and High Jump with 1.56m. Dominic Gardner was first in the U13 boys high jump with 1.25m and the 75m Hurdles in 14.7 seconds and Oliver Kemp won the U15 boys Javelin with a throw of 26.57m.

David Gemmell won the LLR Fun Run for BRAC, completing the 10-kilometre course in 36.19, with club-mate Julie Phillips the first female home in 43.41.

In the 5km race, 11-year-old Olivia Worth was second female home in in 21.04.

Lewis Byng picked up a number of medals in Rugby taking gold with the U11 athlete taking gold in the 75m (10.7), 150m (21.6) and long jump
