DROITWICH Dolphins enjoyed a fantastic win in the third round of the Worcester Winter League, beating Bromsgrove, Haden Hill, Orion and Ludlow.

Out of the 40 races, Dolphins took 14 wins and a staggering 31 top three places.

Individual wins went to Ruth Hadley, Ben Gallant, Anthony Redfern, George Bates and Sam Cave.

The 15-year-old medley and freestyle relay teams of Hadley, Redfern, Cave, Aaron Biddle, Callum Turner, Rachel Bradley and Niamh Harding won both their events, as did the 13-year-old medley and freestyle quartets of Aaron Biddle, Callum Turner, Joe Essery, Lauren Rogers, Teri Woodhouse and Juliet Mourino.

It was a busy weekend for the Dolphins with the junior section travelling for the first round of the Nuneaton District Junior League.

For several swimmers this was their first external gala and everyone competed extremely well finishing in a close fourth place behind Cannock Phoenix, Northgate and Hinckley.

Individual wins were secured by Woodhouse in the under-12s backstroke, Claire Humphries in the under-12s breaststroke, Jess Biddle in the under-10s backstroke and Matthew Richards in the under-9s backstroke.

The boys under-9s freestyle relay team of Richards, Joseph Mourino, Ross Clews and George Grech finished first as did the girls under-12s freestyle and medley relay teams, where Woodhouse and Humphries were joined by Alex Scott and Mourino.

Second places were achieved by Tom Dean (U12s butterfly and breaststroke), James Clews (U11s backstroke), Chris Osborne (U11s butterfly and breaststroke), Juliet Mourino (U12s freestyle), George Bates (U12s freestyle), Joshua Bennett (U10s backstroke), Maisy Nicholas (U9s backstroke).

The under-9s boys medley relay team of Sam Ford, R Clews, Richards and Mourino and the boys under-10s medley relay quartet of Bennett, Jack Scott, Fraser Burgess and Will Bishop also finished second as well.
