BARNT Green captain Dougie Brown sent out a defiant message to the other teams in the Birmingham and District Premier after beating second place Himley by 52 runs.
After slipping from 134-3 to 175 all out, Green dismissed the second placed team and runners up last season for 123.
Brown said there was nobody his team should fear in the league and it was up to his own men to go on from this result and push on in the second half of the season.
He said: “Maybe the first half of the season has been a bit mixed in terms of results but then you could say that for a lot of teams.
“We certainly don’t worry about any team we play because we have the players to beat anyone on our day and have a lot of experience in this league.
“We would have expected to get a bigger against Himley because we lost four wickets for seven runs when we were 134-3 and ended up with a below par total.
“But we bowled well to get Himley out and it was an important win because we gained ground on them and are only eight points and two places behind.
“We are handily placed in the table and I always say it is the teams who come good at the end that will be challenging for the title, not those that just have a good start.
“So we need to make sure we are consistent from here.”
Gareth Andrew could be available for the trip to Shrewsbury on Saturday (noon) if not needed for Worcestershire’s county game at Lancashire.
