Bromsgrove start training

RUGBY UNION

BROMSGROVE RFC kick off their pre-season training for their campaign in National Three Midlands tomorrow (Tuesday) and Thursday at 7.15pm.

The sessions are open to local players who wish to realise the opportunity to play at the highest level of regional rugby or start playing again and receive top quality coaching at Finstall Park which boasts two floodlit pitches, fully equipped free weights gym and physiotherapy centre.

The club have worked hard in the off season to maintain their exciting young squad who were crowned champions with a month to go of the regular season.

This has been further underpinned through the retention of an experienced coaching staff comprising existing Head Coach Ross Baxter, Duncan Roke, Chris Hargreaves, Mark Cornelius, John Blackhall and Alan Danks.

“The senior squad developed a very professional approach to the campaign at the very outset of pre-season last year” said Baxter.

“Having reached these high standards the coaching staff are aiming to continually raise the bar for the forthcoming National League campaign.”

“This is demonstrated through the squad’s aim of being the fittest team in the League via a link up with Northampton Saints Fitness Team and the further development of a top class medical and nutritional back up programme.

“The club has set some early season targets of a top six finish and to win every home match for the year” said Baxter. “I firmly believe the senor playing squad have the ability and focus to play well at this level and every player is excited by the opportunity to stretch themselves every week, he added.”

In support of this the club will run a Under 21 squad and Under 18 Colts squad.

The team will play a series of high profile fixtures over the season against regional level opposition and represent the club on the sevens circuit at the end of the season both home and abroad.
