MANAGER Paul West feels Evesham United’s last two results prove they have nothing to fear in the British Gas Business Premier Division.

The Robins followed up a 3-2 win at Cambridge City last Saturday with a 1-1 mid-week draw against Corby Town.

Both teams are in the play-off positions, while Corby still have designs on pipping Farnborough to the title.

Evesham are six points adrift of the division’s top five but go into Saturday’s match against Brackley Town at St George’s Lane (3pm) full of confidence.

West said: “The last two games have been really good for us in terms of the teams we have played.

“Both Corby and Cambridge would have been classed as among the favourites at the start of the season in terms of their infrastructure. I was even a little bit disappointed we didn’t go on to nick it at Corby.

“It was a good test for my players and we struggled for the first 45 minutes although they didn’t open us up.

“But, credit to the players, they came out in the second-half and it was a different ball game altogether.

“From looking a little lacklustre in the first-half, we looked the stronger side in the second.”

United have five games left and West does not anticipate the season petering out.

The manager added: “Of the remaining games, most of the teams we must face have a chance of reaching the play-offs.

“I am hoping they will be positive and I think they will be. We have struggled against teams who have been cautious.”

Evesham have a fully-fit squad to pick from on Saturday but midfielder Tom Warmer has joined rivals Bromsgrove Rovers.

The former Worcester City player made the switch in time for Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
