BROMSGROVE Rovers could turn to Jemiah Richards as an emergency striker following the departure of Leon Kelly.

Kelly, who scored two goals for the Victoria Ground club in 17 appearances, has joined Blue Square North strugglers Hyde United as they bid to avoid relegation.

The former Worcester City and Hinckley striker’s move has left Rovers short of options in attack as they prepare for Saturday’s visit of Woodford United (3pm).

Tom Hobbs and Walsall trainees James Travis and Joe Howes are all available but fellow forward Danny Campbell is a doubt with a knee injury.

That might see manager Rod Brown draft in defender Richards, who was used in a similar role during his time at Worcester.

Midfielder Tom Warmer, a new recruit from Evesham, is also likely to be involved for Rovers’ first of five British Gas Business Division One Midlands games in nine days.

Player-coach John Snape said: “We are a bit short but have still got some younger lads who are able to play.

“There is a mixture of options we can use as well as Jemiah who has played up front in the past.”

Defender Matt Gardiner (groin) is Rovers’ only other injury concern as they look to build on Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Bury Town.

Snape added: “We were over the moon with the result at Bury because they hadn’t lost for 12 games. We didn’t have as much possession but had more chances.”
