WORCESTER City ABC boxer Caitlyn Wise has been selected by England for the upcoming EUBC Youth European Championships 2024 in Croatia.

Wise, who is this year fighting in the Youth category for the first time, is part of a 12-strong squad heading to Poreč in Croatia at the start of April.

The 16-year-old has gone from strength-to-strength in the early stages of her boxing career. She became Women's Winter Box Champion for 2023 in December, adding to her bronze medal for Team England at the European Junior Championships in Romania in July of last year, as well as becoming a national champion in 2022.

The Youth European Championships will be a big step up for Wise, but it will act as a brilliant learning experience for the talented young boxer.

The England squad will now meet at four preparation camps ahead of flying out to Porec, Croatia for the tournament held 2nd-16th April 2024.

The Three Lions will be joined in Croatia by team manager Tyrone Harold and England’s referee and judge representative, Billy Macdonald. The coaching staff will consist of Amanda Groarke, Andy Marksby, Phil Knight and Dave Johnston, headed by National Coach Amanda Coulson.

Coulson commented: "10 of the 12 already have international bout experience from last year’s programme, either as a Junior or a Youth.

"Two of the boxers are new to the England squad but showed enough in the selection camp to warrant their spot and they’ll join the team this weekend as preparation gets underway.

"Six first-year boxers and six second-years make up the ‘dangerous dozen’, whose potential shouldn’t be taken lightly.

"This team are more than capable of performing really well and taking a podium spot. It’ll be down to the boxers and their club coaches to work together with the England coaches, throughout the next five weeks, to aid their development and progression towards unlocking their potential."
