STOURPORT Swifts booked their place in the Worcestershire Senior Cup Final after bringing Droitwich Spa's brilliant run to an end on Tuesday night.

Droitwich, competing in the tournament for the first time in their history, have beaten sides from a league above in all but one of the previous rounds but came unstuck in the second-half against their higher-level opponents.

Jordan Annear's back-post strike in the 56th minute finally broke Spa's resistance before Lee Chilton's instinctive finish three minutes from time wrapped things up to book Stourport's place in the final.

Quentin Townsend's men will face Redditch United on Tuesday April 18 at the Victoria Ground for a chance to lift the trophy.

Stourport came into the clash in good form having beaten Kidderminster Harriers in the quarter-final just a week prior. A 2-1 league win over AFC Wulfrunians at the weekend heightened the mood and the visitors took that into the opening stages in Droitwich on Tuesday.

Chilton and Jack Watts both had sighters but clear-cut chances were few and far between.

But the hosts were coming forward and having some moments of their own but Josh Bishop was looking solid in the sticks for the Swifts.

Chilton did hit the post shortly before the interval but at the break, it remained locked up at 0-0.

The decisive moment came a couple of minutes before the hour when Ethan Hanson burst down the right and swung in a deep cross to Annear, who scored at the second time of asking to put Stourport ahead.

Bishop was at full stretch to deny the hosts equalising before Chilton forced a top save out of Dominic Rogerson.

The away side had more chances and were threatening another before Chilton finally got his goal in the 87th minute to clinch the game and put his side into the final.
