CYCLING: With the season now in full swing, Bromsgrove's MJS Racing are starting to move into top gear.
Ben Stockdale, who has been in fine form all year, finished third in the elite race at Castle Coombe in Wiltshire last Thursday, followed up by Vince Page's fourth place in the LVRC road race at Broadheath on Saturday.
Cofton's George Bate, who this season has seen a change in direction with him focussing on time trials, rode to a new personal best time of 21 minutes, 48 seconds for 10miles at Cirencester on Saturday, and was supported by Martin Osman who also achieved a personal best of 22.15.
Bate said: "I have knocked over two minutes off my personal best for 10 miles already this season and I know I am still improving."
The team now are focussing on being at the top of their game for the regional and national track championships later in the year.
Next weekend sees Ross Dingley riding with Osman, Bate and Page in the M and D Cycles 4up25-mile team time trial in South Wales.
Team manager Stefan Pearce said: "This is the second time we have ridden a team time trial this year.
"I have swapped the team around a bit to give everyone a chance.
"We will be focussing a bit more on this type of event in the future as we have a good balanced squad to cope with it."
"I was hoping to use Ben in the team this time but he had already entered the Worcester Evening Road Race at Malvern so Martin has been bought in."
