Amateurs set for ring return

8:55am Wednesday 7th May 2008

DROITWICH Amateur Boxing Club is holding another of its popular boxing tournaments in Redditch this Sunday.

It takes place at the Arrow Valley Social Club in Matchborough Way and is due to commence at 1.30pm.

Top of the bill will be 23-year-old light-heavyweight prospect Dave Jenvey who is carving out a formidable reputation for himself with some strong crowd-pleasing performances.

It is not yet known whether Young England representative, Charles Delve (18), will be available to box because of championship commitments.

Popular Redditch-based welterweight Liam Walsh (17) will be another absentee following a recent shoulder operation, but the Redditch flag will be flown by Mitch Towler (16), fresh from a second round stoppage win in Stoke-on-Trent.

Twelve-year-olds Brad Piper, defending an unbeaten record, and Kaine Palmer are also in action.

Tickets are priced £10 for adults and £5 for children, and will be available on the door.

Further information is available from Tim Piper on 07813251794.
