REDDITCH United manager Paul Smith has made his first signings, with Robbie Bunn and Sam Tye agreeing terms with the club.

Bunn, predominantly an attacking midfielder who can play both centrally and on the right-hand side, returns to his hometown club following spells with Bromsgrove Sporting and Highgate United.

He is a player familiar with Smith, and the boss is thrilled to capture his signature, saying: “Robbie is a player with the calibre and talent that I want in the squad. He is a player that I know well, I trust, and I know that he will be a huge capture for us as we look to build a team.

“The fans will love him; he will add physicality to our team but also be the creative spark in midfield.”

Meanwhile, Tye, who was also under Smith’s stewardship at Highgate United, bolsters the Reds’ defensive ranks. The former Stourbridge and Lye Town full-back will add “pace and more physicality”, according to Smith.

He added: “I had watched Sam for 18 months before he joined Highgate United, so he is someone that I have monitored closely and know his strengths. At 6ft 2”, he is different to the average build of a full-back, but he has pace and strength, which means he will be an attacking threat but a solid defender, too.”

Subject to FA approval, both will be available for Smith’s first match in a charge on Saturday, a league trip to Stratford Town (3pm kick-off).
