AVONCROFT pulled off an almighty 103 run success over arch rivals Alvechurch and Hopwood in Worcester County League Division Three.

Runs flowed from the word go when Avoncroft took first strike.

Will Sach with 26, Dan Elliott 36, Tom Murray 43 and Craig Hughes 40 laid the foundation for Josh Cound to cut loose as he cracked a further 88.

They all helped Avoncroft reach a huge total of 289 all out after 47 overs.

Mark Woollat took four for 70 and John Pinsent with three for 68 accounted for most of the Avoncroft wickets to fall although it was Mike Reuben and Dan Wolstencroft who proved the more economical.

Alvechurch were soon in trouble when they replied as Paul Athey picked up three quick wickets.

Edd Rogers with 33 and Simon Bowron on 44 steadied the innings before Jonathan Hunter with two for 29 and Craig Hughes who claimed three for 44, cleaned up the remaining batsmen as Alvechurch were removed for 186 in the 36th over.

Alvechurch slip back to fourth place as a result of this defeat and can expect another tough contest this Saturday when they visit top of the table Lye.

In contrast Avoncroft host bottom side Netherton.
