JAKE Clark from Bromsgrove battled against illness all weekend but still managed to take a couple of championship points from Knockhill.

Clark’s week started with a promotional visit to Dijon Home and Flooring in Bromsgrove. This local business has sponsored the Wilson Racing Moto3 team that Jake rides for. He has also been lucky enough to secure sponsorship from Catshill business The Modern Electric Tattoo Company. They are funding his tyres at each round.

Clark was looking forward to getting back on his Moto3 machine at Knockhill in Scotland. Although the weather was fabulous Clark arrived with a sickness bug and when not racing spent most of his time sleeping or resting.

Determined to compete, he finished the two free practice sessions with a fastest lap time of 56.484, which put him 15th at the end of Friday.

Clark was back out on Saturday morning for the one qualifying session although was still suffering from illness. He managed to complete 30 laps during the session and his time of 55.846 would see him line up 12th on the grid for the race in the afternoon.

He made a solid start ro race one and was running in thirteenth position early on in the race. Towards the end fatigue was playing its part and crossed the line in fourteenth position.

The second race of the weekend didn’t go according to plan. Having made a good start Clark suffered a mechanical issue on the fifth lap. Unable to continue he had to retire from the race.

He said: "It has been a tough weekend. I was really looking forward to racing again after such a long break but I picked up a stomach bug. Thankfully the Brands Hatch round is only a couple of weeks away.

Apart from Dijon Home and Flooring I must also thank the Modern Electric Tattoo Company for coming on board, as well as all my other sponsors. Without their help I wouldn’t be racing.”

The next Moto3 race for Jake Clark will be July 20 to 22 at Brands Hatch.
