NEW Ravens took on Birmingham Bulldogs and got off to a brisk start despite fielding host of debutants.

However Bulldogs opened the scoring and added more points throughout the first half while Ravens' numbers were depleted as Lee Knight and Josh Harrington had to leave the field for treatment to injuries.

The second half started well for the Ravens as their front row made good progress. However, the more experienced Bulldogs continued scoring until a smart move by Ravens created an overlap on their right edge allowing debutant Tom Jones to score out wide.

Jones, aged 16, was among the Ravens players making their first appearance, other new players included Dom Hill, Thomas Wilson, Liam Charles and Stu Walker.

Tom Speed, a former Nottingham rugby league player now working in the Worcester area, has transferred to Ravens and also made his debut.

David Wimbury’s conversion attempt went close in windy conditions and Ravens were unable to add any further points to make the final score Ravens 4 - 62 Bulldogs.

Next week Ravens are away to Telford Raiders
