ALVECHURCH boss Ian Long has snapped up Sutton Coldfield Town skipper Danny O'Callaghan.

The midfield man had a spell with rivals Stourbridge last term before returning to the Royals.

O'Callaghan was unable to save Sutton Coldfield from relegation last term but doesn't want to drop down a level.

Long said: "Dan didn't feature a great deal at Stourbridge, because they played him out of position.

"He's an exciting prospect and an established player at step three football.

"Dan's already quite friendly with some of our players, including Tom Turton and I look upon his arrival as a big capture for us".

Long also confirmed that goalkeeper Lewis Gwilliams had left the club to join Midland League side Worcester City.

Long explained: "Lewis has had to battle it out with Charlie Price and Paul Evans for the goalkeeper's jersey and feels he'll get more opportunity to play with Worcester, even if it means dropping down a couple of levels."
