ALVECHURCH have extended Ashley Carter's contract, keeping him at Lye Meadow for another season.

Carter had attracted considerable interest from rival clubs with both Tamworth and Hereford known to be keen on the attack-minded youngster.

Church boss Ian Long said: "It's a key signing. We've re-negotiated and extended his deal with us and that was important."

Long has also lined up current squad players Josh March, Luke Yates, David Bellis, Paul Evans, Ryan Winwood, Charlie Price, Andy Parsons and Jamie Willetts for another spell at Lye Meadow.

He added: "I'll be sitting down with some of the other players this week. I'd be quite happy to go into next season with the squad of players I had last season".

Long feared he may be losing midfield player Luke Yates with both West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United tracking the teenager's progress.

Yates made two appearances for Sheffield United's Development Squad but Long revealed: "Neither club have shown anymore interest in him."

Long has also confirmed he will be running the rule over Black Country Rangers marksman Kieran James-Clarke during pre-season together with Rushall Olympic midfield player Bradley Malsen-Jones.

Long also revealed that Babucar Sauane would be featuring in the next television series of 'V9' The Next Jamie Vardy.

The series is set to be filmed in Manchester next month and Long added: "It will be great for his profile and good for the club."
