STUDLEY suffered a big setback to their Midland League Division One promotion push when they lost out 3-2 to Lichfield City who stole the points with a late winner.

That was after Studley made all the early running and took the lead with a well timed Karl King goal.

But a couple of glaring defensive errors allowed Lichfield to take the lead before Andy Nicol levelled matters from the penalty spot before half time.

Studley spokesman Bob Fletcher said: "We looked the better side in the second half but couldn't score as Lichfield's goalkeeper saved everything we could throw at him. He had a very good game.

"Andy Nicol really should have made it 3-2 at one stage but then Lichfield snatched victory with almost the last kick of the match".

Life doesn't get any easier for Studley who must travel to top of the table Walsall Wood this Saturday before visiting Heath Hayes on Tuesday.

Studley have boosted their ranks by snapping up defender Kieron McCall from Coventry Sphinx who can operate anywhere across the back four.
