A PAIR of Redditch fighters are celebrating after good performances in a recent international boxing competition in Sweden.

Leo Fanthome and Jae Hudson were both in action at the ‘King of the Ring’ event in Boras – one of the toughest competitions they have ever competed in.

Fanthome competed in the under 64kg elite (open class) cup, winning his first bout unanimously against three-time Norwegian champ Adrian Haug – who has 50 wins under his belt compared to Fanthome’s 18.

Unfortunately the Redditch fighter fell short in the semi-finals of the competition, losing to a strong Swedish opponent.

Following defeat, Fanthome said: “This was my first time I have ever boxed in open class. This was such a hard competition and I literally boxed the best in Europe who were at the box cup.”

Hudson boxed in the under 56kg, novice category, for fighters who have only taken part in less than five bouts.

However, he showed class to win both of his fights unanimously, beating Portsmouth University Boxing Club’s Ryan Rodriguez to win gold.
