Bromsgrove Sporting 2 - 0 Lye Town

Bromsgrove made good use of their game in hand at home to Lye on Saturday, a 2-0 win propelling them to second into the newly named Total Motion Midland Football League Premier writes Ben Fox.

A goal from Wade Malley on the sixth minute got Bromsgrove off to an ideal start after good work down the left from Reece Hewitt.

Jason Crowley almost doubled the lead minutes later but he could only drag his free kick marginally wide of the right hand post.

Lye, sitting in seventh before the game offered very little in front of goal, but defender Alex Dallison diverted the ball past his own keeper’ Price to give Sporting a two nil lead heading into the break.

The second period was a dull half of football.

John Pykett’s sublime acrobatic touch was the highlight, leaving many spectators marvelling at the substitute.

A second clean sheet in as many games for Bromsgrove puts them in good stead for the long away trip to South Normanton Athletic on September 29.
