BROMSGROVE motorbike racer Jake Clark had his share of thrills and spills during his latest event at Oulton Park.

During practice for the Hel Performance Motostar British standard class championship he toughed out wet conditions to finish with a lap time of 1:53.172 putting him 11th at the end of the day.

The second session was cut short for Clark who was caught out by the slippery surface on his sixth lap. A rider fell in front of Clark and he had to take evasive action.

He ran onto the grass at turns 10 and 11, known as Hislop’s and had a small crash.

His bad luck continued in race one, after setting the fastest lap of the weekend with 1:51.725 he was forced out of the race with an electrical fault after two laps.

After a good start in race two Clark had more misery to content with after he clipped a kerb which sent him into a gravel trap and out of the race.

Jake Clark said: “It’s been a difficult weekend this one. The weather has been different all weekend, which hasn’t helped. In race one we had a technical problem so I had to stop.

"In the second race I felt much more confident in the conditions, I got up to ninth but made a mistake. Obviously, I’m not happy to have two DNFs, but they are the first I’ve had this year.

"I can’t worry about that now. I’m already thinking of racing in Assen in a couple of weeks.”
