FAIRFIELD Villa failed to capitalise on last weeks last win against namesake Pelsall Villa when they fell to a 3-2 reverse against Hampton in Midland League Division Two.

Villa spokesman Paul Oakes admitted: "It was so disappointing because we gave away all three goals. We told the players to try and cut out the costly errors but at the moment, we're giving goals away in every game".

Fairfield have been savaged by injuries this season.

Midfield man Pete Jenvey has yet to feature this season having suffered an injury in their final pre-season friendly while midfield partner Scott Holiday damaged his knee when playing against Droitwich Spa and could be facing a long absence.

Added to that, both skipper Scott Smith and Ben Smith have been nursing injuries which have limited their appearences.

Oakes added: "Although we've been gifting goals away, it's in the midfield area where we've been hit the hardest.

"In truth, we've been our own worst enemy as we keep shooting ourselves in the foot and giving ourselves a mountain to climb."

Fairfield were due to face West Midland League Premier high fliers Wednesfield in the Smedley Crook Cup this week before entertaining Continental Star on Saturday in the Les James Cup.
