ALVECHURCH and Hopwood were involved with a run feast against local rivals Avoncroft in Worcester County League Division Three.
Both sides played their part as they produced a combined total which went well over 600 runs.
But it was Alvechurch who finally finished on top of a tremendous encounter when just eight runs separated the sides.
Edd Rogers reeled off a tremendous tally of 133 and found plenty of support from Sohail Malik who made 53 while Curtis Beach contributed a further 49.
They helped Alvechurch post an imposing target of 311 for eight, which Avoncroft set about chasing down in reply.
Craig Hughes cracked 112 while Will Sach supplied another 85 as Avoncroft steadily closed the gap.
But their pursuit finally came to a close on 303 all out after Alvechurch strike bowlers Dan Wolstencroft and Dev Desai came back to mop up the remaining wickets.
Wolstencroft finished with figures of four for 35 while Desai claimed five for 44 to put the seal on a memorable contest.
