AVONCROFT were undone by local rivals Alvechurch as they suffered a 51 run reverse in Worcester County League Division Three.

Alvechurch made a solid start with the bat through opener Adam Markham-Jones scoring 62 and together with Matt Hayward put on an opening partnership of 88.

They formed the foundation for an Alvechurch total of 255 all out off 46 overs after Dan Wolstencroft cracked a further 67.

It was the introduction of Dan Elliot into the Avoncroft bowling attack which eventually put the brake on Alvechurch's progress, Elliot picking up six for 66 while Jonathan Hunter claimed three for 80.

In reply, Avoncroft appeared to be in trouble as they slumped to 83 for six before skipper Mark Whitehead attempted to turn matters around with a timely 61.

Whitehead's departure signalled the end of Avoncroft's resistence as they were reduced to 204 all out, Devavret Desai picking up five for 52 for Alvechurch while Christian Battelley and Saurabh Sata both bagged a couple of wickets.
