LATE drama ensured Bromsgrove School’s under-15 netball team were crowned national champions in the final of the Independent Schools' Cup.

The team fought off tough competition from The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) during the final at Redbridge Sports Centre, Ilford, on March 10.

A spokesman said: “As expected, the match was a very closely fought affair.

“The game ebbed and flowed, with both sides taking the initiative during the first three quarters but the real drama was saved until the final quarter.

“Bromsgrove were leading by six goals at the start of this period, but determined play from Leeds saw them claw back the deficit.

“With 90 seconds to go the score was tied 33-33, but Katie Morrice shot the winning goal with just 10 seconds left on the clock.

“Well done to this outstanding team who are winners of the Independent Schools’ Cup and now national champions!”
