DROITWICH Spa High pupil Megan Skillern won through to the British Judo Association Schools’ Championships in Sheffield on April 8.
The 13-year-old blue belt has been competing for eight years and took a silver medal at last year’s competition but hopes to go one better this time.
To win through she travelled to the Western Area British Schools Qualifier in Weston-super-Mare as one of the youngest and lightest in her age category.
But she brought home the gold medal by beating everyone in her category, including some tough opponents, thanks to strong technique and well-executed hold downs.
Skillern attends Droitwich Spa Judo Kan.
