BROMSGROVE Tennis Club boosted their chances of winning Ladies Division One in the Hereford and Worcester League after defeating Droitwich by an emphatic 4-0 margin.

The combined efforts of Sally Franks and Tina Manning together with Jilly Witcomb and Veronika Kumherova proved much too strong for Droitwich, who they despatched without dropping a single set.

Not to be outdone, Bromsgrove's C team also won 4-0 against Cutnall Green B in Division 4E, again without dropping a set.

The experienced pairs of Joan McGregor and Lynne Wooley plus Ann Banner and Debbie Oliver discovered the form that had eluded them earlier in the season as they now sit second in the table.

Bromsgrove D made it a hat-trick of ladies victories but faced a much tougher prospect when taking on Wall Heath B.

Beccy Smith and Lorraine Russell won one game as did Marie Hackett and Anne Simper.

However Bromsgrove were able to claim victory as Smith and Russell were involved in a three set battle - the extra set proving enough to take Bromsgrove to the top of Division 6E.

The Mens E team took on Pershore B in Division 8E and ran out 3-1 winners to go top of the table.

Bromsgrove's strong junior pairing of Jim Round and Dan Andrews proved too good for the opposition as they won both rubbers without dropping a set.

A new pairing of Chris Hands and Tom Andrews just lost a close opening contest before snapping up a comfortable victory.

It wasn't such good news for Bromsgrove C who lost 3-1 against table topping Wall Heath B.

Jack Walters and Voitek Niedzwiedz won the only Bromsgrove rubber to claim two valuable points which should ensure a mid-table finish
