BROMSGROVE remain rooted to the bottom of National League 3 South West following at 41-13 beating by Bracknell at Finstall Park.

That was after Bromsgrove had made all the early running and built an 8-0 lead following a well taken try from full back Josh Holt coupled with a Jon Critchlow penalty.

But a Bracknell try on the stroke of half time transformed the game after Bromsgrove had trailed 15-8 at the break.

Bromsgrove head coach Dan Protherough said: "The referee made some strange calls and it seemed to knock our confidence.

"The game was much closer than the score suggests but we showed too much ill discipline and gave away far too many penalties.

"We were 8-0 up and flying on the front foot but we didn't take our chances.

"However, we didn't defend well enough from set piece play either. Bracknell scored three times from line-out situations and another two more from scrummages.

"Everytime Bracknell got into our 22, they seemed to score and it seemed to affect our confidence.

"We just need something to spark our season at the moment and to keep concentrating on the things we do well."

Bromsgrove's only second half score was provided by back row replacement Jake Gilford who came on for the injured Tom Hardwick.

Injuries may force Protherough to ring the changes this Saturday when they travel to Devon to play Brixham.

Protherough added: "At least we're getting most of the long distance trips out of the way, which should make life a lot easier in the second half of the season".
