BROMSGROVE Swimming Club were looking to build on their impressive start to the National Arena Swimming League when they travelled to Cheslyn Hay at the weekend.

Having finished second in the opening round, Bromsgrove were bidding to go one better, but found themselves facing some tough opposition.

Despite missing a number of key swimmers, Bromsgrove gave it their all by picking up six wins and 13 second placings while recording 11PB's in the process.

But it was local rivals Droitwich Dolphins who came out on top with 191pts, followed by Haden Hill on 167 with Bromsgrove third on 152, Fox Hollies 125 and Ludlow 105.

Bromsgrove's 9-11 boys freestyle relay team of Ben Collett, Luke Jones, Liam Wang and Cyrus Passman were the first to swim to victory.

Individual wins followed for Luke Jones in the 50 metres breast stroke, Cyrus Passman in the 50 metres freestyle and Morgan King in the 100 metres breast stroke.

More success followed for the boys 9-11 medley relay team of Cyrus Passman on backstroke, Luke Jones breast stroke, Ben Collett on butterfly and Liam Wang on freestyle.

The remaining victory came from the girls under 15 medley relay team.

Two Bromsgrove swimmers travelled to Cardiff earlier in the month to contest their open meet.

Michael Bray set a club record and reached a county qualifying time in the 1500 metres freestyle while James Maycock came third in his age group when gaining a 2017 QT and PB.

Jacob Elliott also smashed a couple of club records when contesting the Regional Short Course Championships which took place at Harvey Hadden in Nottingham.

Jacob came third in the 50 metres breast stroke by clocking 31.98secs.

He set another club record in the 100 metres breast stroke when clocking 1min 10.79secs.

Morgan King also competed at Nottingham in the 100 metres IM and gained a 2017 County QT.
