BROMSGROVE skipper Mark Evenson has praised the contribution made by Worcestershire's Alexie Kervezee this season.

Even though Bromsgrove have spent much of the season looking over their shoulder at relegation this term, Kervezee has continued to remain a class act.

Bromsgrove's 34-run success over bottom side Sutton Coldfield this season has eased fears of the drop leaving the St Godwalds Park side 42 points clear of second from bottom side Old Hill with five games remaining.

Evenson said: "We need to win two games from the remaining five which should make us secure - but I never know which Bromsgrove side is going to turn up from one week to the next.

"I wouldn't put it past us winning all five games.

"We haven't seem to put in a complete performance all season. Either the batting, bowling or fielding has let us down.

"The one consistent thing for us this season has been Alexei. He has been in the form of his life this season and held our batting together. He always makes himself available to us if he isn't required by Worcestershire.

"Alexie has been in and out of the Worcestershire side, but he's been massive for us, but we need more people to step up to the plate and bridge the gap.

"We had hoped to be challenging for promotion this season and on paper, we had a very good side.

"We'll sit down and have a look at things at the end of the season.

"We already know we are likely to lose wicketkeeper Ben Tegg and strike bowler Alex Wilkinson as they are off to University, so we don't know whether they will be available."

Bromsgrove host Bridgnorth on Saturday and then entertain Barnards Green on Bank Holiday Monday.

True to form, Bromsgrove will be boosted with the inclusion of Kervezee for both games.
