BROMSGROVE captain Mark Evenson says it's time to start winning ugly after another defeat saw them tumble towards the relegation zone in the Birmingham League Division One.

The Boars were edged out by two wickets against Attock as a fourth straight loss saw them to slip to third from bottom.

While there are still nine games of the season left, they are 22 points away from the relegation spots.

This weekend, the St Godwalds-based side entertain Wellington aiming to stop and rot and the skipper wants substance over style.

Evenson said: "There are still nine games of the season left so there is still plenty of cricket but it's important we start winning games.

"We might make one or two changes and have experienced people like Matt Dalloway who can come into the side and that will be a boost.

"The league is very close and one win can move us up several places but right now I would take a scrappy one wicket win.

"We've tried to chop and change the side and experimented and it hasn't worked and after a poor run I think it's more of a confidence issue.

"But I am confident that we have the ability to beat any team in the league on our day."

Against Attock, Bromsgrove won the toss and elected to bat first but they were bowled out for 204 in 54 overs.

In-form Worcestershire batsman Alexei Kervezee made an impact with 79 runs off 73 balls, while Ashely Newfield (23), Alistair Hickman (28) and Jack Harding (23) made starts but never got going.

Attock made 207-8 in 43 overs in reply, with teenager George Marshall impressing on his debut with 3-24, while Newfield took 3-53.

A frustrated Evenson said: "It's the same weaknesses every time, we fell 30 or 40 runs short and despite our bowlers doing well, Attock didn't have a big enough total to chase."
