BUSY Bromsgrove Sporting boss Paul Smith has snapped up six new signings as he builds a formidable squad for the coming season.

Smith said: "I've been pursuing these players for the past couple of months. I've got four more new players doing pre-season training with us and I'll probably take two of them, which should complete the squad."

Smith couldn't hide his delight after snapping up strikers Tony Clarke and Chris Lloyd.

Clarke converted 40 goals last season with Lichfield City and the 6ft 4 marksman turned down other offers to join Bromsgrove. Chris Lloyd did even better by finding the net 52 times for Chelmsley Town.

Smith has also added wideman Dayle Kenny to his ranks who arrives at Bromsgrove from Pilkington.

Smith saw first hand last season what Kenny can do and said: "He tore us to shreads in the Smedley Crook Cup!

Smith has also raided Lichfield City for a second time to snap up left back Joe Haines, beating offers from higher ranks club. Haines is also an accomplished dead ball specialist.

Former Reds player Robbie Bunn also joins Bromsgrove with Smith revealing: "He's a central midfield man who joined Redditch

United last season, but got injured and lost his place in the side. He's an automatic replacement for Liam Spink who has gone in the opposite direction to join Reds.

However twin brother Ryan Spink arrives at Bromsgrove, the six foot tall right back having spent last season at Cadbury.

Bromsgrove enjoy their first taste of action this Saturday when they visit AFC Stratford, which is effectively Stratford Town Reserves, on their 4-G pitch.
