BROMSGROVE bounced straight back from last week's 183 run hammering by Barnards Green to bag an impressive 63 run success over Moseley in Birmingham League Division One.

The return of Worcestershire's Alexie Kervezee stabilised Bromsgrove's batting, but it was their bowling attack that proved decisive after they removed Moseley inside 40 overs.

Bromsgrove had posted a target of 192 all out from exactly 55 overs, but rain altered the dynamics when Moseley replied, leaving them 43 overs to reach 170 for the winning draw.

Skipper Mark Evenson admitted: "It didn't helped that we gifted Moseley three silly run-outs, which I always believe is a criminal way to get out. But the fact Alexei was there gave everyone a bit of boost.

"He was unlucky to get out because everyone thought he was the victim of a bump ball."

Kervezee made 42 and together with Yogesh Malhotra, who struck 39, took the score from 15 for two to 101 for three.

Lewis Cordes contributed a further 42 to set Moseley a testing target to chase.

Evenson added: "Moseley got off to a flier in reply and must have scored 40 runs in the first four overs. But their batting has been prone to collapsing and that's what happened.

Evenson and fellow left arm spin bowler Ashley Newfield were the architects of that collapse, Evenson taking three for 16 off 10 while Newfield finished with three for 25 off 10.

Strike bowler Alex Wilkinson then came back for a second spell and mopped up the tail with three for 31.

Evenson claimed: "We set our stall out to get Moseley out for 130 and that's what we did. We got a squeeze on, put them under a bit of pressure and they capitulated!

Bromsgrove will be brimming with confidence when they visit top of the table Smethwick on Saturday who contain former Warwickshire players Mo Sheikh and Naqaash Tahir in their line-up.

Evenson will have Alexei Kervezee available while both Tom Hill and Tom Green are back to boost the middle order batting.

Teenager Jack Harding drops backs to the Second XI after making his debut against Moseley.
