JOSH Stacey stole the show with a spectacular century as Feckenham thrashed local rivals Alvechurch and Hopwood by 115 runs in Worcester County League Division Two.

Stacey almost single handedly held the Feckenham innings together by scoring 101 not out in their total of 170.

It proved too much for Alvechurch who then collapsed to just 55 all out in reply.

Play was delayed after an overnight storm reduced the game to a 41 over affair.

Feckenham opening bat Daniel Bloomer held the early order together with 36 before Stacey took charge.

They were finally removed with two balls of their innings remaining.

Saurabh Sata snapped up four for 68 while Christian Battelley claimed two for 33

Feckenham strike bowlers Mitch Douglas and Tom Coulson then made light work of Alvechurch's batting and between them bowled them all out after just 16.1 overs.

Douglas finished with figures of six for 33 while Coulson clinched four for 18

Alvechurch skipper Adam Markham-Jones admitted poor batting had let the side down as this latest defeat now leaves them bottom of the table.

He said: "Availability has been our biggest problem this season - but we've had no luck either.

"We've been well placed to win a couple of games before the weather intervened.

"We put 275 runs on the board against Enville last week before the game was abandoned through rain.

"In another recent game against Evesham we were well placed to chase down a total of 205 but finished up with a losing draw because of the weather."

Alvechurch hope to have former skipper Matt Hayward back available for the first time this season when they entertain Chaddesley Corbett on Saturday.

But they also look likely to lose key player Keith Rostill for most of the season through injury.
