NEW Ravens hosted over 80 Rugby League junior players from across the South Midlands on Sunday at Hopwood Park.

Midland development coaches ran a four station skill carousel for the age groups including U9, U11, U13 and U15. The groups followed the England player development programme “Embed the pathway”. They then competed in conditional games to test their new skills.

Players and parents who travelled from as far as Telford and Coventry praised the event for quality of coaching and organisation. Chair of the Midlands RL Development group said “It was great to see so many young people playing Rugby League in the Midlands.”

New Ravens resume their normal training on Sunday May 29 at 10.30am at Hopwood Park. The next Midlands development day is in Telford on Sunday June 26 from 11am to 1pm.

This Saturday, May 28 sees Ravens first team entertain Leamington Royals in a repeat for their title chase at the end of last season. An exciting battle is in prospect.

New Ravens will also be hosting for the first time a Rugby League camp on Thursday June 2 at Hopwood Park from 10am to 3pm, this will be for ages 7 to13. This day is open to any junior whether they have played league before or not. It will be skills, games and fun all day. Costs are £15 or £10 to registered New Ravens.
