Sporting 2, Heath Hayes 0

BROMSGROVE Sporting ended their home campaign in impressive style as they proved to be too strong for Heath Hayes.

Goals in each half for Luke Dugmore and Josh Westwood saw The Rouslers bounce back from Thursday night's disappointing 1-1 draw at Racing Club Warwick.

In truth, if had they been more clinical they could have won this one-sided clash by much more.

While their chances of winning the Midlands Division One title slim, victory was a step towards securing a top two finish.

Sporting were forced into a late change as striker Sean Brain replaced midfielder Nathan Walker, who pulled up in training.

But the fleet footed forward made an immediate impact for the hosts.

Inside the first minute he had raced onto a probing long ball and tested keeper Mark Wiggins with a firm first time effort.

But he played a pivotal role as Sporting opened the scoring 78 seconds after kick-off.

The striker raced down the left wing and cut into your box and after Heath failed to clear the danger, Dugmore fired his shot into the roof of the net.

But the goal did not signal the Rouslers running riot as to their credit, the visitors kept their shape and discipline.

The away side posed very little threat to Sporting in the first 45 minutes, with home keeper Chris Jay having very little to do.

Sporting, inspired by Brain's searing pace, looked dangerous on the break but lacked a cutting edge.

Will Tibbetts shot over the bar from 18 yards, while Dugmore and Brain also missed the target.

But the hosts doubled their lead from the spot in the 55th minute after Sam Wills had been chopped down in the box by Liam Degville.

After keeper Wiggins was booked for complaining to the referee, Westwood hammered home the penalty emphatically.

Heath Hayes goal machine Daniel Scragg pounced on a short back pass by Dugmore but Bromsgrove keeper Chris Jay rushed out to spare his team-mate's blushes.

Sporting made two changes soon after as defender Brendan Kelly and striker Connor Collins replaced Westwood and Dugmore respectively.

The hosts continued control the game and restrict their opponents to zero scoring chances.

The home side continued to plug away and in the 86th minute, substitute Kyle Turner crossed for Wills but from two yards out he could not connect.

But in the end two goals was enough to sign off from the Victoria Ground comfortably.
