BROMSGROVE head coach Dan Protherough has called on his players to maintain their intensity as they enter a crucial run of four games.

The Boars face Newport, Old Halesonians, Old Northamptonians and Peterborough Lions over the next few weeks, a sequence which could define their National Midlands Division Three campaign.

Bromsgrove are sixth in the table after a testing run of results but they bounced back last Saturday with a 35-20 win over Longton.

Protherough said: “We play at our best when we’ve got a lot of intensity.

“We’ve had a few games when we’ve been off that but we played pretty well against Longton and it is something we can build on.”

Bromsgrove have been boosted by Jon Critchlow’s return but they are still waiting for long term injury absentees Matt Edgar and Paul Norris to recover.

“We have four very tough games coming up and we’ll need to be ready for them,” said the head coach.

l Meanwhile, Droitwich Spa will be hoping to bounce back from their loss to Banbury at home to Barkers Butts on Saturday (2.15pm ko) in the Midlands Division Two West (South).
