THREE teams from Bromsgrove Tennis Club got the better of the rain to play.

An emphatic victory for the Ladies D team over Cutnall Green C means they consolidated their top position in Division Seven after the hiccup against Droitwich.

The pairs of Marie Hackett with Dilys Thomas and Lisa Rushton with Beccy Smith dominated the opposition and only dropped 11 games over the eight sets to gain maximum points.

The Men’s F team entertained Kidderminster B in a close tie. Roger Colley with Andy Houston and Paul Jubb with Duncan Lewis both had convincing wins against the Kidderminster second pair, but fortunes were reversed when they faced the first pair.

However, with rubbers and sets even, Bromsgrove took the bonus points as they won 32 games to 28.

The result means they are still only a few points behind the leaders in Division 11.

Finally, the Men’s B team took on Beckford A in Division Three.

With Beckford lying bottom, they drafted in two National League players to try to avoid relegation and this swung the tie in their favour.

Steve Jones with Ollie Stratford and Matt Smith with Ash Rutter both won in two sets against the Beckford second pair, but were no match for the National League players as it ended 2-2.

The result means Bromsgrove hold on to second place with two matches to go.
