ALVECHURCH are set for a lengthy away trip after being drawn away to Wisbech in the first round proper of the FA Vase.

The Lye Meadow outfit powered into the next stage of the competition after defeating Pilkington XXX 4-0 in Birmingham.

Karl Edwards maintained his excellent start to the season with a brace to make it 12 goals so far, while Connor Deards and Leigh Downing also hit the back of the net.

As a reward for their success, Church will go to Wisbech Town on Saturday, October 31, which is a 260 mile round trip.

Manager Ian Long said: "We could have played Wisbech in the FA Cup but we both lost but our meeting was only delayed.

"Against Pilkington we played well and scored a couple of goals, although they made several mistakes we punished.

"It's going well at the moment, we're scoring goals and winning games."

Meanwhile, Halesowen Town have been linked with a move for Jordan Nadat, who is currently on-loan at Alvechurch.

The centre forward is keen to play at the highest level but Long is keen to try and keep him at Lye Meadow.

He said: "Jordan has played for a number of clubs and he needs to find a place where he can settle down.

"John Hill, who is Halesowen manager, has spoken to me but I don't think that they can put in a seven-day approach yet, so I have two weeks to try and persuade Jordan to stay."

After a run of away games, Church have three matches at home this week, starting with tomorrow night's Birmingham Senior Cup clash against Lye (3pm ko).

They return to the Midlands Premier on Saturday against Dunkirk (3pm ko) and then tackle Wednesfield next Tuesday in the JW Hunt Cup (7.45pm ko).

Long said: "I think the fans haven't had that much success at Alvechurch in recent years but we're playing well and scoring goals, so I hope that a few more come and watch us."
