DROITWICH Spa Ladies kicked-off Worcestershire League Division Two with a 4-2 win over Bromsgrove thirds.

Caroline Siddle bagged a hat-trick, while Lucy Hine also scored one for Spa.

Bromsgrove had demonstrated spirit and had battled back from 2-0 to draw level, thanks to goals for Sal White and Kirsty Chamberlin – but Siddle and Hine scored late in the second half.

Droitwich go to Stourport in the league on Saturday.

The seconds went down 5-1 to Bromsgrove in their first friendly fixture of the season, with Sarah Gormley, Sarah Cooper (2) and Charlotte Hale (2) on target for the victors.

The men’s thirds commenced their campaign with a 2-1 loss against Bridgnorth.

Spa opened the stronger and made the better chances through Craig Timmis, Mike Langston and Nick Bates.

Droitwich’s pressure finally told near the end of the first half with Bates providing the finish from a neat move.

Bridgnorth were reduced to 10 men following a green card for their right back.

In the second half, Droitwich began to tire despite having further opportunities as Shaun Laight saw an effort go just wide. Shortly after, Bridgnorth scored two quick goals to secure the win.
