DROITWICH Dolphins’ junior swimmers enjoyed more success with a superb day of racing at the Worcester County Development meet held at Wolverhampton Central Baths.

Twenty-four members competed in the all-day event, swimming in 85 races and between them, they achieved 68 personal personnel best times to scoop and won a fantastic 21 medals.

Matthew Daniels and Joseph Mourino each won a bronze medal. Three swimmers also reached the skins final for finishing in the top eight of the 100-metre individual medley.

Alex Munro and Elize Smith swam really well in the final but the star of the show was Anja Kristy, who beat off some very strong competition to win the top prize by completing eight 50m sprints with only three minutes rest between each race.

Head coach Chris Hadley said: “It was fantastic to see the rewards gained from all the hard work the swimmers have been doing in training.

“In the 100m races some of the swimmers were achieving between eight and 14-second places, which is a massive improvement for only nine months training within our new programme.

“It just goes to show what can be achieved if you are willing to work hard.

“I would like to thank all those swimmers and parents who stayed behind at the end of the day to support the swimmers in the skins final, the support really does help a lot.”
