FAIRFIELD Villa are looking to take the positives from their derby defeat to Droitwich.

The Recreation Ground outfit may have lost 3-0 in the Worcestershire Junior Cup but joint manager Paul Oakes saw encouraging signs.

Villa had more than matched their opponents for the opening 30 minutes before James Lemon nodded Spa into the lead.

Max Crisp scored just before half-time, before a second Lemon striker sealed Fairfield’s second defeat in a week to their Worcestershire rivals.

Oakes said: “For 30 minutes I thought we were very good but the difference was finishing.

“We had three corners in that period and none of them caused Droitwich any trouble.

“In contrast, Spa opened the scoring from a scrappy free-kick and then scored a very good goal.

“But I must say, I wish we’d had this back four last season when we where banging in the goals because we looked solid.”

Villa have welcomed back former player Dan Wilkes from Pershore and the club are still looking to bolster their forward options.
