BROMSGROVE sports massage therapist Sam Boswell had a great result at the weekend as she won the Worcester Duathlon.
The event involved a 10-kilometre run followed by a 25km bike and then another 5km run.
Boswell, sponsored by Elliott Nash Ltd, was first back in after the first 10km, retained the lead on the bike until she took a wrong turn just before the second transition, costing her around 20 seconds, and slipping her back into second place behind the reigning World Champion.
But she worked hard on the final round, placing her first woman overall.
She said: “I have not raced duathlon for years and forgot how hard they are.”
The event also included the Worcester 10km, which was won by British athletics star Jo Pavy, who also stayed on after winning her race to present the prizes for the duathlon.
“It was such an honour to meet Jo Pavy, she is such an inspiration and a genuinely lovely lady,” added Boswell,
