BROMSROVE Tennis Club’s juniors have shown they rule the roost with outstanding team and individual performances.

Lead by head coach James Griffiths they have again dominated the County Junior Leagues this summer.

The youngest team — the Under-8s of Toby Ward, Matthew Bevin, Sam Hart, Maya Hart and Bella Gray won their league and were unbeaten.

Josie Ward, Patrick Niedzwiedz, Isaac Bridge, Harry Giles and Kayolan Pavlov also dominated their league and were undefeated in taking the Under-9s’ title.

It was a double success for Isaac Bridge and Niedzwiedz, who were joined by Cameron Owen and Tom Round to win the Under-10 boys’ league title — again being undefeated all season.

To top off the successes the Under-12 boys’ title also went to Bromsgrove as the squad of Stuart Shannon, Josh Turner, Jim Round, Joe Hart and Tom Round won comfortably.

With such strong team performances it was no surprise when Bromsgrove players dominated the County Closed Championships, including three titles each for Niedzwiedz and Imogen Sinclair.

The Under-8 boys’ competitions saw Sam Hart finish runner-up and Maya Hart finish third in the girls.

The Under-9 boys’ final was an all-Bromsgrove affair as Niedzwiedz pipped Bridge to the title, before going on to win the Under-10 boys’ title as well, with Bridge finishing third in this competition.

Droitwich Spa 12, Leamington 32 YOUTHFUL Droitwich Spa found an impressive Leamington side too hot to handle at the Glynn Mitchell Memorial ground.

In near perfect conditions, the visitors from Warwickshire started on the front foot and dominated the first 20 minutes of play.

Deep in the home side’s 22 metre area, Leamington set up a drive to the try line and Daniel Ruyssevelt touched down in the corner.

Droitwich needed a lastditch intervention to deny Ruyssevelt another score but he bagged Leamington’s second when he raced down the wing moments later.

It was well into the second period of the half before Droitwich could mount any attacks and it was for once Leamington who had to soak up some pressure.

This attacking spell continued and the momentum was Niedzwiedz then made it a hat-trick of County titles as he teamed up with Owen Perry to take the Under-10 boys’ doubles title.

In the Under-12 boys’ doubles, Jim Round and Stuart Shannon took the title for Bromsgrove and Joe Hart and Isabelle O’Connor were third in the singles.

The Under-14 age group saw Bromsgrove take two titles as Asena Pavlova clinched the girls and Imogen Sinclair teamed up with Scott Mortimer to take the mixed.

In the Under-16s, Sinclair and Sophie Cornelius won the girls’ doubles, followed in third by Sinclair in the singles after losing a very close semi-final on a tie break.

But she then went on to get her hat-trick of titles by winning the Under-18 girls’ singles title with a strong performance, against players considerably older than her.

Niedzwiedz has been flying the flag for the club abroad and won prestigious Konstanz tournament, which attracts nationally ranked players from Germany and the Czech Republic
