BARNT Green captain Andy Sutton has called on his players to find more consistency after a disappointing display in Saturday's losing draw to Kidderminster Victoria.

Some determined tail end batting rescued a handful of points for Green who failed to replicate their excellent form from the week before, when they were narrowly edged out by Knowle and Dorridge.

Visitors Kidderminster won the toss and opted to bat first and filled their boots as they made 299 all out in 55 overs KVCC recovered from the early loss of captain Matt Pardoe, who was caught by Tom Banton off Simon Jackson for five, with Nathan Round (89) producing a fine display with the willow.

Sutton and Jackson took two wickets, while Luke Radford took four wickets for 55 runs.

Green's usually reliable top order struggled for runs as the normally prolific Sam Cheshire and Ed Pollock both post low scores as the hosts slipped to 19-4.

Cheshire was bowled by Connor Smith (2-24), who also bagged the prize wicket of Pollock (11).

William Baker (0) and Matthew Lamb (0) went for ducks and were dismissed by Round.

But Sutton (55) and Radford (29) steadied the order, before Alastair Pollock (19) also made sure Green took something from the game.

The captain said: "We didn't play that well but at least we got something from the game.

"Our ground is a good place to score runs so I thought we did okay to keep Kidderminster to less than 300 runs.

"But we needed a good start in reply and we ended up 17-4!

"Unless someone had a very good day we weren't going to win the game but he toughed it out.

"I can't blame Ed or Sam, who have been scoring lots of runs all season and we also have a lot of young players in the league.

"You can't expect them to be consistent all season, unfortunately when myself and Matthew Lamb got injured at the same time it had a big impact."

Barnt Green now take on title-chasing Berkswell at hone on Saturday (noon start).
