IT was a quiet week at Barnt Green Tennis Club with only the mixed B team in action, continuing their push for promotion to Division Six with a 6-2 victory at home to Belbroughton B.
The first pair of youngster Beth Harris and the more experienced Andrew Yair, returning to the mixed teams after a three-year absence, fought past a determined duo of Pauline Baptiste and Phil Broom 7-6 6-3, while the second pair of Megan Resse and Hammad Ahmad made shorter work of husband and wife team John and Valerie Knott, winning 6-3 6-1.
In the return rubbers, Barnt Green’s Resse and Ahmad struggled against Baptiste and Broom, losing 6-4 6-1.
But Harris and Yair beat the Knotts 6-1 6-0, to ensure that victory in either of the two final matches will ensure a third successive promotion.
